Our Mission

Fadi El-Richani

Fadi is a 5th-year Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering student at Western University, passionate about biomechanics and entrepreneurship. As President and Managing Director of CUBEC, he drives the organization's growth and connects students, researchers, and industry leaders nationwide. He's also co-founder of the True North Biomedical Competition, one of Canada's first BME competitions. Outside of CUBEC and school, you'll find Fadi playing volleyball, planning his next trip, or listening to music.

Amber Quo

Amber is a 5th Year Biomedical and Digital Engineering student at the University of Calgary. As the Partnerships Director, Amber and her team work to find companies and organizations that align with CUBEC’s mission and vision, and find ways to connect these groups with the greater biomedical engineering community, through opportunities like boothing at the conference. Apart from school and clubs, Amber loves to stay active, and you’ll likely find her playing rugby, golf, or skiing, depending on the season!

Simon Chan

Simon is a 4th year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of British Columbia, with a focus on tissue engineering. Through his involvement in organizations at both the national and regional levels, he has developed a strong interest in applying biomedical engineering innovation in settings with a meaningful community impact. As the Marketing Director of CUBEC, he works with a national team to create content that connects and informs students across the country as they navigate their BME careers. Outside of academics and CUBEC, you will most likely find Simon at the gym listening to The Beatles!

Didi Dimitrova

Didi is a final-year Biomedical Engineering student at Simon Fraser University, passionate about bridging the gap between medicine and technology. Through her co-op experiences and involvement in student organizations, she has developed a strong interest in connecting students with opportunities in biomedical engineering. As Outreach Director of CUBEC, she works with the national team to build partnerships and bring outreach initiatives and events to students across Canada. Outside of CUBEC and school, Didi enjoys hiking, travelling, and searching for old vinyls to grow her music collection.

Emma Li

Emma is a 2nd year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Waterloo. She is interested in fostering a community in BME through events, providing students with a platform to connect with professionals in the industry, academia researchers and fellow peers. Additionally, she is interested in research and development of biomedical engineering, through microfluidics and rehabilitation engineering. As the Events Director of CUBEC she works with her team to lead event programming throughout the 4 regions across Canada, providing a place for students to form meaningful connections that support their academic and career growth.

Hemanya Sharma

Hemanya is a 4th year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of British Columbia with a minor in Commerce. She is interested in the intersection of engineering, healthcare, and business, and has gained experience in the medical device industry. As the Finance Director of CUBEC, she manages the organization’s finances and helps support initiatives that bring biomedical engineering students together across Canada. She is passionate about creating opportunities for students to connect, collaborate, and explore the different paths within biomedical engineering.

Noura Abdelrazec

Noura is a 4th year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Waterloo with a strong interest in biomedical research and academia. Through her co-op experiences, she has explored the intersection of biomedical engineering, clinical research, and patient care, experiences that have shaped her aspirations to pursue a career in academic research. Having attended CUBEC for three consecutive years and previously serving as an Events and Outreach Lead for Ontario, she was inspired to become more involved in the community that had given her so many opportunities to connect with other students and learn about the field. As the Operations Director of CUBEC, she works with the national team to coordinate the people, systems, and initiatives that help bring the BME community together across Canada.

Grace El-Hawary

Grace recently graduated from Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Western and is now continuing into an accelerated MSc program. Her research focuses on functional elbow joint loading and arthroplasty implant design. As Competition Director and Co-Founder of True North Biomedical Competition, she drives the success and growth of True North, ensuring a paramount opportunity for BME undergraduates across Canada to gain hands-on technical design experience and make an impact solving current healthcare challenges. Outside of CUBEC and research, you'll find Grace either snuggled with her foster kitties while learning a new hobby (currently crocheting), or out and about catching up with friends probably involving live music.

Janine Hu

Janine is a 3rd-year Chemical and Biomedical Engineering student at Western University. The intersection of advocacy and engineering is where she thrives. As the Advocacy Director of CUBEC, she powers the program that fights for better education and employability for undergraduate biomedical engineering students across Canada. When not doing work or school, you can find her hiking, painting, or on a flight abroad!
