Register Now →At this time, teams are only required to indicate their intent to participate. Teams have no maximum or minimum size, however only 20 members from each team will be able to attend the in-person competition at Western in March. Once registration closes, teams will be contacted with further instructions, including deadlines for submitting final team rosters and any additional event information. All updates will be communicated through Discord or email.

Students have the opportunity to work on a real-world challenge provided by Boston Scientific, network with medtech industry leaders, showcase their skills nationally, and experience a collaborative design environment similar to those found in the medtech industry.
Teams will gather at Western University for a series of tests and challenges. Competition Day will include a business-style pitch covering areas such as the market analysis, scalability, target market, and business model, as well as technical judging focused on functionality and showcase judging focused on practicality.
Teams should expect to spend approximately $800–$1,500 over the course of the competition. This may include materials, electronics, 3D printing or manufacturing, and testing components.
Yes. To prevent financial resources from determining the winning team, there will be an approximate $2,000 spending cap for prototype development. Teams will be required to provide a bill of materials (BOM) and receipts, which will also be evaluated as part of the judging criteria.
Teams are encouraged to seek their own sponsors. This could include support or discounts from local businesses in exchange for recognition, such as placing a company logo on the prototype.
No. Payment for transportation to Western University and lodging costs for Competition Weekend must be funded by the competing team, but the TNBC team will be providing an exclusive hotel rate.
The registration fee is $250 per team and must be submitted at the time of registration. The fee is non-refundable and contributes towards hosting the event.
No. At the initial registration stage, teams only need to indicate their intent to participate. The names of all team members can be submitted at a later date.

Inaugural Edition
With 10 universities competing from across Canada and over 200 students in attendance, the inaugural TNBC made an unforgettable debut.
Teams spent the year designing innovative smart knee sleeves for ACL rehabilitation, bringing bold ideas, technical skill, and fierce competition to the stage. Memorial University of Newfoundland claimed first place, followed by McGill University in second and the University of Manitoba in third.
